Police: Laurel Man Charged With Driving Drunk in Cutchogue

Southold Town Police charge a Laurel man with driving while intoxicated in Laurel on Sunday.

Karl Novak, 55, of Laurel was charged with driving while intoxicated on March 11 at 7 p.m., after police responded to an anonymous report of a possible drunk driver in a 2007 Chevy pickup truck heading west on Route 48 in Cutchogue, police said. Police observed Novak failing to stay within a traffic lane on Route 48 and found him to be intoxicated, police said. Novak failed roadside sobriety tests, was arrested and transported to police headquarters in Peconic where he was processed and lodged in a cell awaiting arraignment, police said.
