Kitchen Fire At Pellegrini Vineyards Doused During Wedding

Four North Fork fire departments made sure a kitchen fire at Cutchogue vineyard would not spread during Saturday night wedding reception.

A kitchen fire at was put out by members of local fire departments at about 8:40 p.m. on Saturday night, according to Chief David Fohrkolb.

The fire started behind a stove at the winery and began extending up a wall at about 8:16 p.m., the chief said. The fire started during a wedding reception involving about 300 people at the winery, which is why four fire departments were called to the scene, Fohrkolb said.

"We responded the way we did due to the amount of potential life loss here," he said at the scene at just after 9:30 p.m., when members of the ,, , and fire departments were still at the winery checking for potential hot spots within the building where the fire could still potentially spread.

No one was injured in the blaze and music from the wedding reception was still playing as firefighters checked the building just before 10 p.m.
