Incident Reports: Duck Blinds Missing, Damaged

Also reported to Southampton Town police: $1,444 drained from ATMs in Hampton Bays; rims missing from garage in Southampton; and a driver in Speonk flees after hitting pole.

Crimes and suspicious incidents recently reported to the Southampton Town Police Department.

Criminal Mischief

•  A Hampton Bays man told police Dec. 31 that sometime since the day before, someone used a tool — possibly a chainsaw — to damage his duck blind and remove wood. The cost of repairs was estimated at $1,000.

Grand Larceny

• A North Sea man reported Jan. 3 that sometime since the day before, his three-man duck blind, which he has a permit for, was taken from undeveloped land it had blown to a few weeks prior. The duck blind is valued at $2,500.

• A Hampton Bays woman reported Jan. 1 that her bank alerted her that $1,444 had been deducted from her account at a number of ATMs.

• An East Quogue woman reported Dec. 31 that a 6-year-old female African gray parrot valued at $2,000 was stolen that morning. The parrot was wearing an ID band on its right leg. The woman said her home was locked, and the parrot was in a cage in her living room. There were no signs of forced entry, police said. However, a day later while the victim was out, the parrot was returned.

• A Manhattan man reported Dec. 31 that a total of nine Ferrari and Porsche rims, including some tires, were stolen from the garage of a Southampton home he owns and had rented out between May 2011 and May 2012. The rims and tires are valued at $11,000.

Burglary

• A Lake Grove man reported Jan. 4 that a Hampton Bays residence was burglarized. Someone opened a rear window and stole three Phillips 32-inch televisions, three Blu-Ray players and three HDMI cables, according to the incident report.

Leaving the Scene of an Accident

• On Dec. 31, someone struck a utility pole on Montauk Highway in Speonk with a 1995 Dodge Caravan with South Caroline plates and left the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. The vehicle was impounded pending investigation.

• A Water Mill man reported that between Dec. 23 and Dec. 28, someone backed into his driveway gate, causing $1,000 in damage, and left the scene without reporting it.

• A Rocky Point man reported  Jan. 1 that sometime since Dec. 21 someone struck the driver’s side front bumper to his vehicle, causing it to crack.

Identity Theft

•  A Southampton man reported Jan. 5 that on Dec. 28 someone charged $2,000 on his Best Buy account at the Patchogue store. The man said he was alerted to the fraudulent charge when the creditor asked him if he would like to raise his credit limit.

Dear Rude Person, The money was withdrawn from multiple ATMS, and the account holder was subjected to multiple ATM fees, of small amounts.

Not a farmer, the article clearly states "from a number of atms" not why don't you apologize for such an unnecessary comment.
