Did you even notice the pipe and drum bands standing on private property ,because they were not allowed by the govt. Of the village to march in the parade? They could walk in the street without playing their instruments ,but not while playing music ! This is govt. Run amuck!

Mr Winkler , There are always two sides to every story so befor you judge please find out what both sides are before you pass comments. And it has nothing to do with Government.

Gotta love the rumors that go around. PS its a Christmas parade not a funeral or celebration bag pipes don't fit in with the Christmas theme. Awesome job by the new committee of the parade many more parades to go!! Wonder how Sir Roy is feeling after his Lil tumble to the ground?

Once again we need to read about the facts. There are two fire companies that put this event together. For years Caroline Tamin headed this wonderful parade and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus' visit to the fire house. Jennifer Grilli took on the task, and congratulations to her and the other volunteers who made this parade a wonderful time for adults and children. As to the pipe and drum bands, they were caught in the middle of a situation that was placed in motion by one individual. I wonder which side of "Santa's" list he will be on Christmas Ever, "naughty or nice"!!!!

There was a changing of the gaurds so to speak this year re: the Christmas parade. I thought there was lost opportunity when the solicitaions for money to fund the parade went out. There was no mention that Carolyn Tamin (my mother who gave heart and soul to that parade for 30 years) was stepping down and no official introduction of the new ambitious souls that were taking it on. "Give credit where credit is due"

ooops I spelled solicitations incorrectly

I thought it was a wonderful parade. Just thought there could have been more advertising of it. Many people were unaware of what date and time it was going to be. Whats important is that the kids loved it.
Jennifer Wilkinson- Grilli December 12, 2011 at 06:54 PM
Robin sorry for that it was in the Suffolk times for many weeks, and it was aired on WLNG. Next year we will make sure that we do advertise it more . We as the new committe have a lot to learn and alot was given to us at once and never doing this befor I think we did a great job.

To everyone that help, thanks alot, every kid had a smile on their face when they open gifts up.just remember one thing its about the kids, not the pipe bands, some people do not know the hole story.its a shame that some people said it would be a bad parade, but the new committee proved them wrong.so for the people that was making a fuss(off the record it was a nice parade)and it will get better in the coming years. And thanks again to Jen G and all of SANTAS helpers from CAPTAIN StONER
