Fire District Elections Take Place Tuesday Around North Fork

Your guide to who's running.

Here's your guide to who's running in today's fire district elections on the North Fork.

There's a heated race in Mattituck, where three candidates are vying for one open seat and a five-year term.  Incumbent William Young has decided not to run againLeonard Llewelyn, Michael Sweeney and John Heeg are facing off for the one open seat. Voting takes place at 1000 Pike Street from 3 to 9 p.m.

In Cutchogue, Andrew McCaffrey is challenging incumbent Arthur Brewer for a five-year seat. Polling takes place at 260 New Suffolk Road from 6 to 9 p.m.

Three districts have candidates running unopposed: 

In Orient, Joseph Wysocki is running unopposed. Vote at 233 Main Road from 6 to 9 p.m.

In East Marion, Donald Dzenkowski is running for his five year seat and Michael Griffin is also running unchallenged to complete his current term. The election will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at 9245 Main Road.

And in Southold, current chair Donald Sayre is running unopposed for a five-year seat. Voting takes place at the firehouse, located at 55135 Main Road, from 6 to 9 p.m.
