Feds Nab Equestrian's Murder Suspect in Tennessee
Brett Knight arrested at house in Seymore, a small town located near Knoxville for allegedly killing Ross Reisner.
U.S. Marshals on Wednesday arrested the man they say killed Stony Brook resident Ross Reisner in a Sept. 24 shooting at the victim's Upper Sheep Pasture Road home.
Reisner was a beloved member of Long Island's equestrian community who recently established Maple Lane Farm in Mattituck.
Marshals in Tennessee, along with the Sevier County Sheriff's Office, arrested Brett Knight at a house on Creswell Road in Seymore, a small town located near Knoxville. Federal agents arrested him on murder and attempted murder charges, as Reisner's boyfriend Kevin Murray was grazed by a bullet during the Sept. 24 shooting.
Suffolk County Homicide Squad detectives were on scene for the arrest. They also recovered two handguns during the arrest.
According to a statement from the Marshals, a nationwide manhunt launched after Reisner's shooting, targeting Knight, who officials believe had bought a motorcycle and fled the area.
According to Newsday, Knight was a former tenant of Reisner and his partner. Murray also had recently filed a harassment complaint about Knight in Suffolk courts.
On Set. 24, 50-year-old Reisner was shot in the chest when Knight allegedly fired several shots through a window from outside Reisner's home. Murray was also grazed by a bullet, but recovered.
