The teenaged daughter of East Hampton Town Deputy Supervisor Theresa Quigley is currently in intensive care after an accident in the ocean surf in Amagansett on Wednesday afternoon, Supervisor Bill Wilkinson confirmed on Thursday.
Wilkinson said that Doris Quigley, a 17-year-old town lifeguard, may have hit a sandbar at and broke her neck. She was flown by helicopter to the hospital.
She underwent a three-hour surgery on Wednesday evening, Wilkinson said.

Judge William Condon sentenced Kalila Taylor, who was convicted twice for the 1996 murder of Curtisha Morning, to the maximum term she could have received – 25 years to life – on Thursday.
"Ms. Taylor has not shown any remorse and I'm not inclined to show her any leniency," Condon said.
During an emotional sentencing, Patrina Morning, Curtisha's sister, cried while speaking to the judge, remembering a young girl who walked to church on Sundays. When she died, Morning said, "Everything was taken away from our family. To be robbed of something like this -- it's cruel."

said on Wednesday that the driver of a one week ago on North Haven remains in critical but stable condition, and no charges are expected to be filed in the crash.
According to police, 35-year-old Delia Robertson remains in the care of Stony Brook University Medical Center.
Detectives said she briefly left her lane of travel on Route 114 near Fresh Pond Road last Wednesday, and the commercial truck driver heading in the opposite direction veered into the oncoming lane in an attempt to avoid a crash. The two vehicles hit head-on, and after being extricated from her car by members of the , Robertson was airlifted to Stony Brook.

Locals Escape Near-Death Experiences
Early Wednesday night, a , and within hours, the house was rendered uninhabitable by a blaze that the Westhampton Beach Fire Department limited to the home itself. The woman made it out of the home alive, though it was not clear if her dogs were saved in the fire.
On Friday afternoon, witnesses said a and resumed breathing after Good Samaritans performed CPR.

Suffolk County Police said on Monday that an Orient man was one of two people who died when a plane crashed and burned in Shirley late Sunday morning.
Police identified David McElroy, 53, shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday after previously identifying a woman from upstate New York, 60-year-old Goshen resident Jane Unhjem, as the crash's other victim.
Services for McElroy, a father of seven, were held on Friday, with a funeral planned for Saturday morning.
