Crimes Nearby: Woman Smashed Car Windshield With Baby Inside

RIVERHEAD

• Armed with a baseball bat, 23-year-old Jasmin Camacho struck a car windshield on March 14 in Flanders, smashing it, while a baby and its parents were in the vehicle, according to police.
said the incident occurred on Brookhaven Road in Flanders at approximately 6 p.m. Camacho, along with her friend Sheena McCoy, 19, of Brookhaven, were arrested and detained at 8:03 p.m.
Camacho, who is from Smithtown, was charged with child endangerment, criminal mischief in the third degree and false personation, all misdemeanors.

• Brittney Grief, 20, of Rocky Point, was arrested early Tuesday morning after police said she was driving while intoxicated. According to police, she was seen failing to maintain her lane of travel while driving on Route 24 in Flanders near Spinney Road. She was charged with DWI, transported to police headquarters, and held for morning arraignment.

• Meaghan Kearns, 29, of Ridge, was arrested on March 15 on charges of petit larceny.
Police reports state that a Famous Footwear employee witnessed Kearns place a $70 pair of Nike sneakers in her pocketbook and leave the store without paying for them. The employee reported that she saw Kearns get into a yellow van with hardwood flooring in the back. The van was later stopped at the intersection of Route 58 and Osborn Avenue.
Reports state that Kearns was positively identified by the store employee, transported to police headquarters, processed, arraigned, and remanded to Suffolk County Jail on $500 bail.

SOUTHAMPTON

• Andrew Thayer, 23, of Bridgehampton, was arrested in Sagaponack on March 18 and charged with making graffiti and possession of a graffiti instrument, both misdemeanors. Police said Thayer was spotted at 6:10 p.m. spray painting graffiti on a sign at. He was additionally charged with unlawful marijuana possession, a violation.

• A Water Mill man who lives on Roses Grove Road complained that someone left a headless, decaying deer at the base of his driveway. He told police that he believes the deer was left intentionally. The case is active and police are investigating. Whoever is responsible for leaving the dead deer could face a charge of second-degree harassment.

• A Sag Harbor man complained to police March 16 that someone used his American Express card to charge $19,425 worth of electronics. He said he found out about the charge after he received an email from the company about the pending delivery of the merchandise. The man was able to cancel the order and subsequently canceled his credit card. He also told police that someone attempted to place a call-forwarding service on his Verizon account. If caught, the person responsible could face charges of third-degree grand larceny and first-degree grand larceny.

• On March 16, a caretaker for a Sagaponack man's home on Sagaponack Road reported that a burglary and grand larceny had occurred at the home sometime after he last checked the property on March 4. Missing are six to eight antique tables, two wood lamps, two Miele vacuum cleaners, a shop vacuum, two TVs, and a laser printer. The estimated value of the stolen items, which were last seen in a gym in a separate structure on the property, is $33,170.

EAST HAMPTON

• Two young men have been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries in Springs and police said more charges could be coming. Johnathon Duran, 22, of Springs, and an 18-year-old co-defendant, whose name police withheld due to his Youthful Offender status in court, were picked up on March 12, after evidence left behind at one of the burglaries led to the suspects, East Hampton Town Police Detective Lt. Chris Anderson said on Monday. Anderson said all the burglaries had not been reported and that police are investigating further. "We're looking into other burglaries that have occurred in the area," he said. More charges could be added.

• Cesar P. Calle, 41, of East Hampton, is being held on $10,000 bail out of, as well as a detainer from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, following a traffic stop on March 16. He was pulled over in a 2002 Ford on Woods Lane, after police received a hit on their license plate reader that the Ford's registration was suspended. Calle, who gave a first name of Benito E, was not able to produce identification and a check with the DMV confirmed his driving privileges were suspended. Once his criminal history returned, police discovered his real name was Cesar. He also had a bench warrant out on a Suffolk County Police Department case, as well as the detainer.

• Melvin Garcia-Arias, 44, of Speonk, was arrested March 18 at 6:19 p.m. in Westhampton at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Corwin Place. Garcia-Arias was charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, and unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a violation, after a traffic stop revealed that the man was intoxicated, police said.

• Roberto Deleon-Cojon, 22, of Flanders, was arrested March 16 and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after he was stopped on Cypress Avenue by police in Flanders at 10:11 p.m. Cops said Deleon-Cojon was driving with an open container of Modello beer in his possession and also had eight suspensions on his driver's license. After failing a breath alcohol test, the man was taken into custody, police said.
