Crimes Nearby: Sexual Assault, Menacing, Larceny

The following information was supplied by various town police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Miller Place-Rocky Point:
Melinda Calone of Rocky Point was arrested Nov. 3 and charged with petty larceny. She allegedly stole from the Waldbaum's on Route 25A in Rocky Point.

David Smith, 47, of Rocky Point was arrested in Rocky Point for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident on Oct. 21 at 10:45 p.m. Smith was driving a 2000 Chevy.

Rebecca Xavier, 23, and Keith McManus, 31, of Rocky Point were arrested Nov. 2 on Hill Crest Road in Rocky Point. Xavier was charged with third degree grand larceny for the theft of guitars. McManus was charged with possession of stolen property as he was found with the stolen guitars on Hill Crest Road when he was arrested.

East Hampton:
Mario G. Colon, 42, of the Bronx was arrested after he allegedly was found with items that belonged to the, where he worked last month. said they were called down to the club on Oct. 23 after Colon and another employee allegedly took 10 bottles of Champagne, valued at a total of $100, silverware worth $100, about $50 in linens and about $20 in cleaning supplies.
The items were found in the car after the police were called. Their boss did not want to press charges at the time, but the employees were told they were not allowed at the club again.
However, Colon was arrested on Nov. 4, though police did not indicate what occurred in between the dates. He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and petty larceny, both misdemeanors. Catherine A. Cahill released him on $240 bail.

A 49-year-old Montauk business owner has been arrested on 10 felony and two misdemeanor charges related to the sexual assault of a child.
East Hampton Town police announced on Monday that Paul S. Apostolides, who lives in Islip, is being held on $150,000 bail following an arraignment in Suffolk County Criminal Court. He pleaded not guilty before Judge Barbara Kahn on Nov. 4.
Detective Lt. Chris Anderson said the investigation was launched after a complaint was filed and took place over the course of several months.

Westhampton-Hampton Bays:
Yuri Vasquez, 23, of Hampton Bays was arrested Sunday at 2:46 a.m. on North Road in Southampton and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Vasquez was stopped for speeding when police discovered that she appeared intoxicated.
Mayra Medina, 23, of East Quogue was arrested Saturday at 3:39 a.m. at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Route 24 in East Quogue. She was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Medina was stopped for driving out of lane when police discovered that she appeared intoxicated.


Southampton:  
A 25-year-old Hampton Bays man who was ran into trouble with police again Oct. 3 in Water Mill. According to police, at around 7:13 a.m., Shawn Stoeckert was aggressively tailgating an officer who was driving in his personal car near the corner of Cobb Road West and Stephen Halsey Path. They both pulled over, and the officer walked back to Stoeckert’s Ford pickup truck to identify himself, police said. Stoeckert became hostile and aggressive, and threatened to hit the officer with his car, according to police. He then sped away, officers said. The officer, along with two others, followed Stoeckert’s pickup and approached him again, pulling him over, according to police. Stoeckert was hostile and verbally abusive when officers tried to handcuff him, police said. He was arrested at the corner of Flying Point and Cobb roads and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and second-degree menacing, all misdemeanors.

Southampton Town police say they have caught two men who have plagued the township with. Jeison Portuguez, 18, and Alexander David Erraez-Leon, 21, both of Hampton Bays, were seen casing vehicles around Eisenhower Drive in East Quogue on Nov. 6, police said. The pair was under surveillance by town detectives, according to police, who said that at 12:15 a.m., while Portuguez and Erraez-Leon were stopped in Erraez-Leon's vehicle at Montauk Highway and East Tiana Road in Hampton Bays, they were arrested and the vehicle was impounded. "Detectives spent a majority of their investigatory efforts compiling and analyzing, reviewing types of vehicles, items stolen, location, time of day and day of week, and collecting and processing evidence from the crime scenes," police said in a statement.

Riverhead:
Jose Arriaza, 35, of Riverhead was arrested early on Nov. 6 at the corner of Flanders Road and Kirk Avenue in Riverside and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Arriaza was stopped around 2 a.m. for unsafely passing another vehicle and speeding when police discovered he was intoxicated, police said.

A 55-year-old man from Water Mill told Town Police that sometime between 2 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 9 a.m. on Oct. 27 someone took his Starcraft aluminum boat, another boat and a motor, altogether worth $1,600, from his property on Maple Avenue in Flanders. Police are investigating.

Two cars in a parking lot on Commerce Avenue had their windows shattered and property allegedly stolen from inside on Nov. 1, Riverhead Town police said.

Police received reports from the parking lot around 6:30 p.m. from victims who said their passenger side windows had been "broken out," according to a police report. The first victim had a pink Coach wrist wallet containing her credit cards stolen from her 2009 Dodge sometime between 1:30 and 6:20 p.m, police said.

A second victim said the window of her 2007 Hyundai was also broken sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 6:20 p.m, police said. She told police that her purse may have been stolen from the vehicle, but said she may have left it at home, according to a police report.

No arrests were made yet in the incident. Police said the parking lot did not have surveillance cameras.
