The following information was supplied by various town police departments. A criminal charge is an accusation and does not indicate guilt.



Commack

A man robbed the located at 6230 Jericho Turnpike at 4:51 a.m. on Aug. 8. Police said he displayed a revolver handgun and demanded cash from the cashier. The cashier complied, handed the assailant an unspecified amount of cash, and the thief fled. No injuries were reported.

Hauppauge

A man robbed People’s United Bank on Middle Country Road in Lake Grove on Aug. 13. Police said a man entered People’s United Bank, located on 2921 Middle Country Road, at 10:25 a.m. and handed the teller a note demanding cash. The teller complied with the robber’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer and a red dye pack, according to police. The dye pack exploded as the man left the bank. He was seen entering a gray four-door sedan, driven by a female, and together fled west on Middle Country Road. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the bank robbery to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Milos Vukcevic, 21, of Hauppauge was arrested in Smithtown Aug. 6 at 10:33 p.m. on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said Vukcevic was driving a 1994 Mitsubishi on the south side of Grand View Lane when he struck a mailbox. The controlled substance was found upon the search of Vukcevic's vehicle.

Dennis Marino, 20, of Hauppauge was arrested in Hauppauge on Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. on charges of fugitive with a warrant. Police indicated they received information that Marino was wanted by the State of Florida on a previous charge of dangerous drug violation.

Southampton

Sean M. Essay, 26, of Southampton was arrested by Southampton Village police Saturday at 1:34 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said officers responded to the scene of a car accident at the parking lot on North Sea Road and found Essay operating a 2001 Chevrolet while intoxicated. He was held overnight for morning arraignment.


[Name removed] of East Hampton was arrested by Southampton Village police Saturday at 3:31 a.m. and charged with obstructing governmental administration, criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth degree and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police said that upon responding to an alarm at 100 Main Street, officers discovered [name removed] in front of the address acting in a suspicious manner. He was found to be in possession of marijuana and attempted to flee from officers when he was placed under arrest, police said. He was processed and held for morning arraignment.

Paul Hodges, 48, of Southampton was arrested by Southampton Town police Sunday at 6:20 a.m. on the corner of Noyac Road and Straight Path in North Sea and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Hodges was in a minor single-car accident when they discovered he was intoxicated.

Westhampton- Hampton Bays

Dorothy Guthrie, 40, of East Quogue was arrested Saturday, August 6 at 12:30 p.m. on Birch Street in East Quogue and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies. Police said Guthrie stole two gold rings from her housemate and sold them to a jeweler in Riverhead for $200 on August 6.

Ferdin Castro, 24, of Eastport was arrested Sunday at 9:59 a.m. on Speonk-Riverhead Road in Speonk and charged with false personation and third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, both misdemeanors. Police said Castro was in an accident and gave police a false name and date of birth, as well as a false identification card. He was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for his injuries and then to police headquarters.
