Crimes Nearby: Northampton Woman Attacks 'Repo Man' With Fork

The following information was supplied by East End police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Southampton Police arrested a 39-year-old Northampton woman after she attacked a repossession agent with a large barbecue fork Nov. 29. An unidentified repossession agent arrived at home of Carolyn Parker on Nov. 29 at around midnight and tried to tow away a car parked in her driveway that she had defaulted payments on, police said. Police said Parker attacked him with a large barbecue fork when he tried to tow the vehicle.

She hit the repossession agent’s vehicle with the fork, causing minor damages and scratches, according to a police report. Police said Parker then thrust the fork inside the agent’s car and tried to stab him. He was not injured, police said.

Parker was arrested at 1:20 a.m. and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree menacing, both misdemeanors. Officers did not know what type of car the agent was repossessing.

• Riverhead Police arrested Kenneth Bailey on Nov. 30 and charged him with menacing, fleeing an officer and reckless driving after police said Bailey threatened to kill a Riverhead woman and then led police on a high speed chase on Nov. 29 and escaped.

The alleged victim said Bailey, an acquantaince, knocked on the front door of her residence on the night of Nov. 28, police said. After she opened the door, Bailey pushed his way into the residence, yelling and refusing to leave, according to a police report. Bailey then allegedly grabbed the victim by the arm, pulled a knife from his pants, and threatened to kill her.

The victim ran from the home and Bailey fled into his black four-door Mercedes as police arrived, according to a report of the incident. Police said the woman was examined by ambulance volunteers and had difficulty breathing but refused transport to Peconic Bay Medical Center.

On Nov. 30, police reported arresting Bailey on charges of second-degree menacing, fleeing a police officer, and other traffic violations. Information on the circumstances of his arrest was not available at this time.

• Police arrested Trevor Craker and Cody McGovern, both 17, of Hampton Bays, on Nov 23. and charged them with criminal mischief for spraying graffiti. Craker was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and making graffiti, police said; McGovern was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and making graffiti. No further information was made available by police.

• Two unknown women reportedly stole over $1,000 in hard drives from the Target on Route 58 on Nov. 23, police said. The complainant from Target told police that the two women were caught on surveillance video carrying large bags that he believes hid the missing merchandise, according to a police report. The victim said the two women stole four hard drives worth $1,116 in total.
The first suspect was described as being in her mid-20s with long brown hair, a white and blue polo shirt, a dark-colored jacket, blue jeans and tan shoes, police said. The second suspect was described as also in her mid-20s, with long black hair, a purple jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.

The complainant from Target said the two women were involved in a previous larceny at the Medford Target, but could not be identified, according to a police report. Police said they are making a copy of the video footage and are still investigating the alleged theft.

• A Riverhead man told police that on Nov. 24, someone broke into his 1990 white Chevrolet and stole about $4,500 worth of electronics and jewelry from the vehicle, according to a police report. The victim said someone shattered the rear window of his vehicle on East Second Street between the hours of 1 and 1:30 a.m, police said.
The victim said the thief stole a stereo, 2 amplifiers, a bottle of wine, and a silver necklace and bracelet worth $2,300 and $700, respectively. Police said they are still investigating the incident.

SOUTHAMPTON

• David Ramunno, 50, of Sag Harbor, was arrested Dec. 4 at 12:43 a.m. at the corner of Upper Seven Ponds Road and Lower Sevens Pond Road in Water Mill and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Ramunno was stopped for driving out of lane when police saw crack cocaine on the center console of the car and a crack pipe on the vehicle’s floor, according to the arrest report.

• A 23-year-old Southampton man as he was being processed at Southampton Town police headquarters for felony DWI and an array of other charges that stemmed from being pulled over in Flanders, according to police. Southampton Town police said they were called to Flanders Road on Saturday night for a report of an erratic driver and when they arrived they saw Jonathan A. Restrepo almost strike a parked vehicle. An officer pulled him over and discovered he was intoxicated and had a suspended license for a prior DWI, according to police. He had a standing court order to use an ignition interlock device, but his car was not equipped with one, police said. The devices are designed to stop a car from starting if the driver has alcohol on his breath. The car was also uninsured, uninspected and had license plates that belong to another vehicle, police said.

EAST HAMPTON

Animal rights activist and Montauk resident Bill Crain, who often protests deer hunting in East Hampton, was arrested on Monday in New Jersey, where he was protesting a black bear hunt. According to The Star Ledger, Crain refused to move from the front of the a Sussex County weigh-in station. Crain later told reporters it was an act of civil disobedience.

• Ashly M. O'Shea, 31, of East Hampton, was arrested on Nov. 25 on menacing related charges. said Mark O'Shea, who is reportedly Ashly's husband, filed a complaint after he said she pointed a knife at him and threatened him on Nov. 6 at about 7:45 p.m. Police did not indicate where the menacing occurred. Police contacted O'Shea on Nov. 25, who agreed to turn herself in. She was charged with second-degree menacing with a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use, both misdemeanors.  She was released on an appearance ticket and will be arraigned in on Dec. 22.

• Village police arrested Ronald A. King, 57, of East Hampton, on a drug charge on Nov. 29 at 4:53 p.m. Police said they were called to assist probation officers and King was found to have violated his parole. He allegedly had 2.5 Vicodin pills on the dresser in his bedroom. Bail information was not immediately available.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS

• Douglas Schmieder, 52, of Hampton Bays, was arrested Dec. 1 at 1:56 p.m. at the corner of Maple and Oak Streets in Westhampton and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. Schmieder was stopped for driving out of lane, according to his arrest report.


• John Reha, 32, of Deer Park, was arrested Nov. 30 at 4:57 p.m. at the corner of Sunrise Highway and Flanders Road in Hampton Bays and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damages and third-degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. He was also charged with unlicensed operation and unsafe tire, both violations. Police said Reha was in an accident with physical injuries, and left the scene. Officers later identified Reha’s car, a 1997 Mercedes, and apprehended him, according to his arrest report.


• Jose Rivera, 31, of Hampton Bays, was arrested Nov. 23 at 3:03 p.m. at police headquarters in Hampton Bays and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injuries, a misdemeanor, and unlicensed operator, a violation. Police say Rivera was in an accident on Springville Road on Nov. 13 and then ran away before police arrived. Officers used a K9 team to locate Rivera at the time of the accident, but could not find him. He was later tracked down through an investigation, according to his arrest report.

MILLER PLACE-ROCKY POINT

• Oscar Alvarez, 25, an undomiciled man, was arrested on Dec. 1 at about 7:20 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief with intent to damage property. He was found by King Road and Polk Street in Rocky Point after allegedly puncturing rear driver side tire of a Ford F-250.

• Eric Smarrelli, 27, from Miller Place, was arrested on Nov. 29 at about 5:30 p.m. and charged with first degree operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs. He was arrested after reportedly crashing a 2001 Toyota on Route 347 in Setauket.

• Jason Annunziato, 22, from Wading River, was arrested on Nov. 28. He allegedly refused an officer's attempt to pull him over on Route 25A in Rocky Point and fled the scene. He was charged with reckless driving, fleeing a police offer and committing several traffic violations while fleeing.
