Crimes Nearby: Homeless Man Stabbed in Hampton Bays

Christopher Parker, 46, arrested on felony assault and weapons charges.

The following information was supplied by the East End police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS

• Police arrested a Hampton Bays man for allegedly stabbing a homeless man on Ponquogue Avenue in the early morning hours of Aug. 25.

According to Southampton Town police, Christopher Parker, 46, got into a verbal altercation with the 40-year-old at around 1:30 a.m. Police would not disclose what the argument was about, but at some point they said Parker began to stab the man with a large knife several times in his torso and neck. Police said the victim then flagged down a nearby town police officer to get medical attention. The man was treated at Southampton Hospital for his injuries. His status is unknown at this time.

Parker was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment, all felonies. He was also charged with misdemeanor second-degree criminal impersonation for reportedly providing a false name.

RIVERHEAD

• A Riverhead man is facing a felony robbery charge after police said he forcibly removed a man's phone at knifepoint.

According to Riverhead Town police, officers responded to a report of of a robbery on Segal Avenue on Wednesday at 3:30 a.m.

The victim told police that an unknown man forcibly removed a cellphone from him while displaying a knife. Police said the suspect initially fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later.

Robert K. Nash, 45, was arrested and charged with robbery in the first degree. He was also held on an active parole warrant for robbery in the second degree, police said.

The incident was the second incident involving a robbery at knifepoint on Wednesday. Earlier in the evening, a man entered a Riverhead home, brandished a knife, and snatched a man's wallet before fleeing.

EAST HAMPTON

• James J. Brennan, 60, of East Hampton, was arrested on a felony drunken driving charge in Springs on Aug. 21. Police said they saw him on Springs Fireplace Road, near Harrison Avenue, crossing over the double-yellow line into oncoming traffic. Police said he appeared drunk. They found he had a previous conviction within the past 10 years. He was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, and also aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, for reportedly having a blood alcohol level above .18.
