Crimes Nearby: Assault in Rocky Point; Thefts in the Hamptons

The following information was supplied by Suffolk County and East End police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Nicholas Roosa, 25, of Rocky Point, was arrested Jan. 28 and charged with petty larceny. Roosa allegedly stole food from the at 5145 Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station.

• Frank Kandler, 32, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested Jan. 28 and charged with petty larceny. He allegedly stole a shopping cart full of groceries from the in Port Jefferson Station.

• Jose Figueroa, 55, of Rocky Point, was arrested Feb. 1 and charged with assault: recklessly cause physical injury. Figueroa allegedly threw an ashtray at a female’s head, which caused a laceration that required medical treatment.

EAST HAMPTON

• An 18-year-old girl and 19-year-old girl were arrested in East Hampton Village on Feb. 2 on theft charges. said they stole merchandise from, where the older girl, Dahiana C. Munoz, works, and, which are both on Main Street. When police found them they had five bottles of nail polish, a pair of fake eyelashes, white socks, a Ricky's NYC pink and white flowering ring, a pair of silver earrings and a box of skin perfecting primer cream for a total of $132.94. They were both charged with misdemeanors; two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and one count of petty larceny. They were released on their own recognizance and will be arraigned in on Feb. 16. Police withheld the younger girl's name because she is eligible for youthful offender status in court.

• Jorge E. Guanga, 36, of Montauk, was arrested on Feb. 3 after said he kicking in a door at his estranged wife's house. Police received a call from the victim at about 7:15 p.m. When officers arrived they found damage to the door and Guanga inside the house. He was arrested on a charge of second-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors. Held overnight, he was arraigned before East Hampton Town Justice Lisa R. Rana and released on $5,000 bail on Feb. 4. The victim also requested an order of protection.

• A 71-year-old Montauk woman was arrested for the second time in two months for violating a court order to stay away from her neighbor at The Tower, according to town police. Virginia M. Morrow's neighbor called police on Feb. 3 to report that Morrow had rung her door bell at 10 a.m.  Morrow reportedly confirmed the incident. She was released on her own recognizance from headquarters. She was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor.

SOUTHAMPTON

• Henrio Dorvil, 32, of Riverhead, was arrested by Feb. 1 at 10:30 a.m. and charged with petty larceny, identity theft in the third degree and unlawful possession of personal identification information in the third degree, all misdemeanors.

• Gary J. Vigilant, 46, of Southampton, was arrested Jan. 29 at 12:50 p.m. at Kmart at the Bridgehampton Commons and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. According to the incident report, a loss prevention officer at saw Vigilant take off his boots, stash them in a shoe box, put on a new pair of $29.99 boots and walk out of the store without paying for them. He was stopped by the loss prevention officer then turned over to police, the arrest report states. Vigilant was processed at the police substation at the Commons then released on an appearance ticket with a Feb. 22 court date.

• Brendan H. Clavin, 23, of Sag Harbor, was arrested Jan. 31 at 2:57 a.m. and charged with felony aggravated DWI. The charge was elevated to a felony as a result of a previous DWI conviction. said Clavin was pulled over on Rysam Street in a 1999 Toyota Corolla after he failed to stay in his lane while speeding on Division Street. Police said Clavin smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage and he performed poorly on sobriety tests. According to an Intoximeter, his blood alcohol content was .23 percent, police said, nearly three times the legal limit. Police said a baggy of marijuana was in his front pants pocket and another baggy was found in his waistband. Clavin was additionally charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, as well as speeding and improper lane use, both traffic infractions.

RIVERHEAD

• A 22-year-old Ridge man was arrested on Feb. 2 on felony burglary charges in relation to an incident that happened in September of last year. According to police reports, a Karen Court resident reported on Sept. 7 that someone had broken numerous doors at the residence and and removed a safe later located by Suffolk County Police. Following an investigation, Sean Buckman, 22, was arrested at his girlfriend's house in Coram. He was arrested on charges of burglary in the second degree, transported to the Suffolk County Jail, and held for a morning arraignment.

• Jasmine Ann Stephens, 19, of East Hampton, was arrested with a 17-year-old East Hampton teen on Feb. 1 on grand larceny charges after they allegedly stole a $2,500 dog from The Puppy Experience in Aquebogue. According to reports, the owner of the shop reported to police that two females took the dog from the Route 25 shop without paying for it and fled in a car westbound on Route 25. The car was reportedly stopped on Osborn Avenue near Pulaski Street. They were transported to police headquarters, the two were released on $50 bail each, and the dog was returned.

• Joseph Neil Manarino, 41, of Riverhead, was arrested Feb. 4 at 4:12 a.m. in Flanders and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree-alcohol related, a felony; DWI, a misdemeanor, and speeding, a traffic infraction. Police said Manarino was driving faster than 65 in a 55-mph zone near the intersection of County Road 105 and Flanders Road, and he did not have a functioning rear license plate light. He was found to be intoxicated and his license has been suspended five times for various prior incidents and failure to pay child support, police said. His vehicle was impounded.

• Southampton Police said 51-year-old Robert Singleton of Riverhead was arrested on two felony charges recently after he According to police, an East Quogue resident reported a car theft on Nov. 30, 2011, reporting that a black tow truck came and took a 1992 Volvo - which was inoperable and had no plates - from the resident's driveway. Following an investigation, police located the car at Gershow Recycling Center in Medford. Records allegedly indicated that Singleton had traded the car and received cash for it. He was arrested on felony charges of filing a false instrument, and felony charges of criminal possession of stolen property. 

WESTHAMPTON BEACH - HAMPTON BAYS

• Vincent A. Riela, 48, of Hampton Bays was arrested Feb. 4 at 1:07 a.m. at 250 Montauk Highway East in Hampton Bays and charged with burglary in the third degree, a felony. Police said the arrest stemmed from an investigation into the theft of a cash register in October 2011.

• John G. Randolph, 25, of Hampton Bays, was arrested Feb. 1 at 5:28 p.m. on Montauk Highway West in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, as well as following too closely, a traffic infraction. Police said Randolph was involved in a reportable motor vehicle accident and he told the arresting officer he drank too much.

• David R. Davis, 40, of Riverhead, was arrested Feb. 2 at 1 a.m. at the Flanders Road and Glider Avenue intersection in Flanders and charged with DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, both misdemeanors. Police said Davis was pulled over for failing to stay in his lane of travel. After being stopped, police said they detected alcohol on Davis’ breath.  He was additionally charged with moving from lane unsafely and failure to obey a traffic control device, both traffic infractions.

• Donald R. White, 46, of Riverhead, was arrested Jan. 30 at 2:03 p.m. at police headquarters in Hampton Bays and charged with filing a false instrument in the second degree and submitting a false written statement, both misdemeanors. According to an incident report, White filled out a falsified Southampton Town Affidavit of Landlord so that another man pretending to he his tenant could obtain a town shellfishing permit. Police said White turned himself in after the Probation Department told him he had charges pending against him. He was released on an appearance ticket and is due in court Feb. 29, police said.
