Cops: Three Nabbed in Greenport Underage Alcohol Sting

The three clerks sold beer to minors, cops said.

Three Greenport clerks were nabbed this week for selling alcohol to minors, police said.

According to the authorities, New York State police, Riverside barracks, conducted an underage drinker enforcement detail in Greenport on Tuesday. 

During the sting, clerks at three retail businesses in the village were issued appearance tickets for selling alcoholic beverages to an underage state police agent.
 
Police said the underage agent bought a 12-pack of Bud Light beer from Mr. Roberts/GMS Grocery on Front Street in Greenport.

The clerk, 24, of Hampton Bays, was charged with one count of unlawful dealing with a child and one count of prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage. He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Southold Town Court at a later date.
 
In addition, the agent bought a 12-pack of Coors Light beer from Layyah Market on Front Street in Greenport. The clerk, 27, of Greenport, was charged with one count unlawful dealing with a child and one count of prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage. She was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Southold Town Court at a later date.
 
Finally, the underage agent bought a six-pack of Bud Light beer at TSM Grocery on Front Street in Greenport. The clerk, 28, of Greenport was charged with one count of unlawful dealing with a child and one count of prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage. She, too, was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Southold Town Court at a later date.
 
The following seven Greenport establishments were also targeted and they were found to be in compliance: Patriot Gas, 7-Eleven, Claudios Wines & Liquors, Greenport Wines & Spirits, Zeynaz Village Grocer, Chasmur Superkets, and JB Liquor Store.
