Cops: Teen Charged With Driving While High On Marijuana

The driver had pot on his lap, police said.

An Oakdale teen was cuffed Sunday after police said he was caught driving under the influence of marijuana in Laurel.

According to Southold Town police, Vincent Occhigrosso, 19, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. on Peconic Bay Boulevard and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, failure to maintain lane, and excessive tint, violations.

Police said the teen was stopped for the violations and while interviewing him, officers smelled marijuana coming from the car. Officers also observed marijuana on Occhiogrosso's lap, as well as in the vehicle, police said.

A further investigation found Occhiogrosso was impaired by drugs. He was arrested, transported to the Southold Town Police Department, and processed.
