Cops: Suspect Threatened To Stab Man With Kitchen Knife

Police said a valid order of protection was in place against the man charged.

A Greenport man was arrested Monday after police said he threatened to stab someone with a kitchen knife.

According to Southold Town police, Robert Lee Smith, 54, of Greenport was arrested on Monday at 7:40 p.m. on Third Street in Greenport and charged with criminal contempt, a felony, menacing, and harassment after police said he threatened to stab Harry Gamble, 60, of Greenport, with a kitchen knife.

Police said there is a valid order of protection in effect against Smith. He was arrested, processed a police headquarters, and held for morning arraignment.
