Cops: Southold Man Caught Speeding, Drunk In Mattituck
The driver was charged with misdemeanor DWI, police said.
A Southold man was caught speeding and driving drunk in Mattituck early Saturday morning, police said.
According to Southold Town police, Jonathan Charles Haight, 33, of Southold, was arrested on Saturday at 2:32 a.m. on County Route 48 and Wickham Avenue in Mattituck.
Police said Haight was seen speeding in a 2004 Chevrolet Sport utility vehicle westbound on County Route 48, and was stopped.
While interviewing Haight, police said an oder of an alcoholic beverage could be detected on Haight's breath; he was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and speeding.
Haight was transported to Southold Town police headquarters where he was processed and held overnight for arraignment in Southold Town justice court.
