Cops: Mom, 2 Children Injured in Southold Crash

The mom and two children were rushed to Peconic Bay Medical Center.

A New York woman and her two children were injured, as well as another driver, in a Southold accident on Friday on Country Road 48 and Tuckers Lane.

According to Southold Town police, the accident took place at 10:19 a.m. when Juliana Zinger, 46, of New York made a left turn from Tuckers Lane onto County Road 48 and failed to yield to oncoming traffic; she hit a car driven by Mr. Girzadas, whose first name was not immediately available. He was also injured.

The woman and her children, ages 10 and 8, were transported by Southold Fire Dept. Rescue Squad to Peconic Bay Medical Center. Girzadas went by fire ambulance to Eastern Long Island Hospital.

Zinger was issued a summons for failure to yield to another vehicle, police said.

Tucker's Lane at Rt. 48 should be no left turn. You cannot see well enough to the west to avoid traffic and traffic is moving a highway speed or more there as they transition from 4 lands to 2.

I second that! I ALWAYS go to a road that has a light now if I am making a left onto the double lane highway.
