Cops: Mattituck Teen Charged After Fleeing Police, K-9 Search

A teen was charged after police said he fled and sparked a K-9 search.

A Mattituck teen was charged with possession of marijuana and fleeing from police after a K-9 search in Greenport Monday, authorities said.

According to Southold Town police, a 17-year-old Mattituck youth was charged with obstruction of governmental administration, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, after he fled the scene after being stopped by police on Front Street in Greenport on Monday at 8:24 p.m.

Police said the youth fled the area on foot during the interview. During a police and K-9 search of the area, police said the youth turned himself in; police said the suspect admitted to possessing marijuana and turned it over to police.

He was arrested, processed, and released on bail for a future court appearance.
