Cops: Man Shoots Victim With Air Rifle, Charged With Felony

Police said the weapon was found and is being held as evidence.

A Laurel man was arrested Sunday after police said he shot a victim in the face with an air rifle.

According to Southold Town police, Brayan Cahueque, 23, was arrested at 4 p.m. in Laurel after police said he shot an air rifle at another 23-year-old-man during a fight, striking him in the face and causing a large laceration.

The victim was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of his injury.

Cahueque was arrested outside his home and charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, police said.

He was taken to Southold Town police headquarter and held for arraignment.

The weapon was recovered and held as evidence, police said.
