Cops: Man Killed in Industrial Accident in Mattituck
Tragedy on Sound Avenue on Thursday when a man was killed in an accident, police said.
A Southold man was killed Thursday after an industrial accident in Mattituck, police said.
According to Southold Town police, Andrew Leone, 30, was killed after an industrial accident, during which a man, 53, was operating a skid-steer at 1:23 p.m. on Sound Avenue when the bucket fell off, striking Leone in the head and causing severe trauma.
Leone was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries, police said.
The Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office responded to assist with the investigation.
The case is being investigated as an accident and is not criminal in nature, police said.
