Cops: Man Drove Drunk, Led Police On Foot Chase

The driver also had drugs in the car, police said.

A Mattituck man was arrested early Friday after police said he drove drunk with drugs in the car and fled from police on foot when stopped.

According to Southold Town police, Kevin Cierach, 45, was arrested at 3:36 a.m. on Deep Hole Drive in Mattituck.

Police said Cierach was stopped for failing to maintain his lane and failing to signal a turn. When stopped, Cierach fled the car and led police on a foot pursuit; he was soon caught and found to be intoxicated.

He was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, taken to police headquarters, processed and held for arraignment, police said.
