Cops: Man Charged With Stuffing Beer Down His Pants

A Greenport man faces a petty larceny charge after police said he tried to swipe a brew.

A Greenport man was arrested Sunday after police said he tried to stuff beer down his pants and leave a store without paying.

According to Southold Town police, a 25-year-old Greenport resident was arrested on Sunday at 1:24 p.m. on South Street in the village after he allegedly attempted to steal beer by placing the can of brewski down his pants and walked past the cashier without paying.

He was arrested and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor and transported to Southold Town headquarters for processing.
