Cops: Man Charged With Stealing Food In Greenport

Police said suspect was also found to have an active warrant.

A man was charged with stealing food from a Greenport business on Sunday, police said.

According to Southold Town police, Brian B. Edwards, 44, of Central Islip, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday after he allegedly stole food and beer from a Greenport Village business.

Edwards was arrested and was also found to have an active New York State parole warrant, police said.

He was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, police said; Edwards was processed and placed in a holding cell to await arraignment.

The arrest was the second time in a week that a suspect was charged with stealing food from a Greenport business.
