Cops: Man Blindsided While Getting Change at Gas Station

A Greenprot man was arrested after he reportedly hit an unassuming man in the head inside a gas station.

A Greenport man was arrested after he reportedly assaulted a man at a gas station attempting to get change to vacuum his car.

According to Southold Police, a man was struck in the head at Patriot Gas Station around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The unexpected blow threw him to the ground, according to police, causing a laceration above his left eye and a bruise to his head.

The victim drove himself to Eastern Long Island Hospital, where he was treated for injuries.

Police said the Greenport man was arrested on a violation harassment charge, and later released on bail.
