Cops: Man Arrested In Cutchogue, Charged With Heroin Possession

A traffic stop resulted in a Shelter Island man being charged with heroin possession, police said.

A Shelter Island man was arrested in Cutchogue on Thursday and charged with possession of 16 wax envelopes of heroin, police said.

According to Southold Town police, Sean Patrick Cronin, 27, of Shelter Island, was arrested on Thursday at 7:46 p.m. on Route 25 and Stillwater Avenue in Cutchogue. 

Police said Cronin was stopped for failing to maintain his lane of travel. Further investigation, police said, revealed that Cronin was in possession of 16 wax envelopes of heroin.

Cronin was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument, misdemeanors.

He was arrested, transported to Southold Town police headquarters, processed, and held overnight to await arraignment.
