Cops: Greenport Man Charged With Stealing Food From Restaurant

Police said suspect stole food from a Greenport Village restaurant.

A Greenport resident was arrested and charged with stealing food from a village restaurant, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Felix Cruz Garcia, 39, of Greenport, was arrested Monday at 8:40 p.m. on Front Street.

Police said Garcia unlawfully entered a Greenport Village restaurant through a rear kitchen door and removed food items from a refrigerator. Garcia was then confronted by a restaurant employee and fled the area, police said. He was located a short distance away, arrested and charged with burglary in the third degree, a felony.

He was processed and held for arraignment.

Police did not release the name of the restaurant in question and said the matter remained under investigation.
