Cops: 3 Busted in Super Bowl Sunday Underage Drinking Sting

Seven other businesses were found to be in compliance, police said.

Three clerks were busted on Super Bowl Sunday as New York State police conducted an underage drinking sting in Greenport, authorities said.

The New York State police barracks in Riverside conducted an underage drinker enforcement operation in Greenport, police said. During the sting, three retail establishments were charged with selling alcoholic beverages to an undercover underage state police agent, authorities said.

Three clerks were arrested: A man, 19, of Greenport was charged at the 7-Eleven on Main Road; a woman, 18, of Greeport was charged at Layyah Market on Front Street, and a man, 20, of Mattituck, was charged at Claudio's Wines & Liquors, police said.

All three were charged with unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcohol, both misdemeanors; they were all issued an appearance ticket returnable to Southold Town Court at a later date.

The following seven establishments were also targeted and found to be in compliance:  TSM Grocery, Greenport Wines & Spirits, Chasmur Supermarket, Patriot Gas, Zeynaz Village Grocer, JB Liquor, and Mr. Roberts/GMS Grocery
