Buy A Brick for New Southold Firefighters’ Memorial

Donations requested to help honor local firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

Over the years, the North Fork has lost dozens of firefighters who bravely entered burning buildings to save other lives.

Now, and the Fire Chief’s Council are asking for your help to build a Southold Firefighters’ Memorial, to encircle thestatue at in Peconic.

A sitting wall will feature columns identifying each North Fork fire department with the names of fallen firefighters listed under each column. The area between the 9/11 memorial and the sitting wall will be finished with brick pavers. Those bricks are now being sold for a $100 tax deductable donation.

“Your brick can recognize a loved one, personal hero, firefighter, emergency medical technician, or whomever you’d like,” reads a press release on the project. “The memorial will be an appropriate tribute honoring the citizen volunteers who gave their lives serving their friends and neighbors.”

There is no limit on how many bricks you can buy. The memorial is set to be finished by Nov. 11, Veterans Day, when an opening ceremony will take place.
