UPDATE: Elderly Greenport Woman Hits Capital One Bank With Car

Southold Town Police report that the driver who narrowly missed hitting the entrance of Greenport's Capital One Bank thought she was had the car in reverse.

Chief Martin Flatley identified the driver who hit a brick wall of building on Tuesday morning as Eileen Kiski, 76, of Greenport.

Kiski crashed her 2002 Hyundai into the bank at 10:18 a.m. after she hit the gas in an attempt to leave a parking space, thinking that the car was in reverse, Flatley said. The car lurched forward instead, jumped the curb and hit the building, he said.

Kiski, who said she did not remember what happened, was taken to for a check-up but did not suffer injuries, nor did any passersby or patrons of the bank, Flatley said.

"Luckily, no one was near the vicinity when it happened," the chief said.

, responded to the call on Tuesday morning with both fire and rescue vehicles.
