Your Thoughts: North Fork Has Great Home-Style Customer Service

We asked, you answered – customer service is alive and well on the North Fork.

Thanks to readers for sharing their thoughts on the state of local customer service, a question we posed last week. Patrons praised businesses such as Mullen Motors in Southold, the Wayside Market in Southold, Legends Restaurant in New Suffolk, and Greenport Harbor Brewing Company in Greenport.

Here are a few comments:

“I split my time between Nassau and the North Fork and the customer service is as different as night and day. I try to shop more in the North Fork and avoid Nassau County as much as possible. The difference is that most shops on the NF are operated by the owner. That's not the case in NC. Many shops have employees that are not trained and just do not care about customers. The NF shop owners are usually pleasant and easy going. Recently we ordered take out at aMano in Mattituck. We were asked to wait five minutes when we arrived and then were told that they ran out of the type of pasta we ordered so we changed the pasta and were asked to wait a bit longer. They then offered us free drinks at the bar. Five minutes later our order was ready. This would never happen in NC.” — Frank T,

“I give my vote for Mullen Motors in Southold. I have been a customer of theirs for years and they have ALWAYS treated me like family. I wish them all the best for a great 2013!” — John D'Angelo,

“I can't let this go by without expressing my extreme satisfaction to the people at town hall. The staff in the clerks office are outstanding, always coming to the counter as soon as someone is looking for help and handles business quickly and efficiently. The same is true in the tax recievers office. Great service. Thanks.” — dave allison,

“Wayside’s lunch sandwiches are to die for … soup is hot and fresh. Jen’s for sit-down lunch. La Capricciosa has the best fettuccine alfredo … the North Fork has the best home-style stuff.” — forward thinking,

“You name the North Fork business and the service is wonderful. Wayside, Strong's, Cutchogue Deli, Preston’s, Legends, North Fork Table, The Loft, Krupski Farms, Lenz, Port of Egypt, Polywada, Greenport Brewery, Harts — and I can go on and on. Shop local!!” — Concerned,
