Your Thoughts: Ignored Stop Signs at North Fork Intersections

Last week, we asked you for your opinions on where the , and a variety of comments came in. Love Lane and the North Road in Mattituck, Main Bayview and Route 25 in Southold, and Wiggins and Third Street by the ferry in Greenport were just a few spots you considered dangerous intersections.

Wells Road and Oaklawn Avenue......My parents never returned to their home after being hit there. The very next day a 4-way stop was installed at the intersection, however everyday I see vehicles driving thru-also at Oaklawn Ave and PineNeck road. Do drivers KNOW what to do at a 4-way stop intersection??

Kenneys Road and Soundview and soundview and Hortons Lane OMG.

The stop sign that replaced a yield sign at the intersection of Naugles Drive and West Mill Road. With more and more people moving about here on the North Fork, it is inevitably necessary that stop signs replace yield signs on our roads. Traffic isn't like it used to be...

The stop sign on Webb Street in Greenport where it converges with First and Main Streets at Steamboat Corner. A very dangerous intersection that experiences near misses regularly.

With my professional experience the most ignored stop sign on the North Fork and it's over sized at that is at the corner of Wiggins and Third Street in the Village of Greenport where the cars are supposed to stop to turn right to get on the ferry line or get on the North Ferry to Shelter Island. If you don't believe me go down and sit there some day.

The Southold Legion and Rte 25 and also Main Bayview and Rte 25, because they used to be yield signs.

Love Lane and the North Road in Mattituck !!!! My daughter and I were hit in 2005 and my jeep flipped numerous times due to a driver who ignored that stop sign.
