What Should Replace the North Fork Bagel Cafe? [Empty on the North Fork]

A corner location in the Mattituck Shopping Plaza was recently vacated — what would you like to see there?

Last Monday, then a corner location of the Mattituck Shopping Plaza near Waldbaum's grocery store.

North Fork Patch wants to know, in your opinion, what sort of business should move into the small space. Another bagel shop? A Or, since it's Mattituck — another bank?

Or maybe we could spice things up Greenport-style with, perhaps, an art gallery?

Let us know what you think, and be sure to post your suggestions on what other vacant buildings we should focus on in upcoming "Empty on the North Fork" posts.

How about a bagel store that actually makes decent bagels?

Bagels will be hugely missed. I hope another bagel shop opens that will consider making flagels (flat bagels) in addtion to the traditional.

the mall needs a business that has local flavor and not another chain business, which offers a product / service that all mall visitors can use: florist a book store a bakery / pastry shop (Butta Cakes!) an office supply store a food takeout place that makes homemade food that can be taken home & heated up

Another bagel shop or take out place would be great. Really don't see much need for an office supply store.

Oh, but I see a need for an office supply store. It should be called "Nothing But Notebooks" :)

With digital media today you would have to be out of your mind to open a book store. Did anyone notice a national chain book storing closing in Riverhead?

SR -- how about a bagel factory at the former Borders?

Hmm that might work. Maybe a big h&h or something. We know how well Crispy Cream did...
