Visions For Vacancies: Former True Value

In this series, readers can discuss what they would like to see spring up from vacant locations in Patchogue and Medford.

In “Visions for Vacancies,” Patchogue Patch will feature vacant storefronts and seek input from readers as to the type of business they would like to see fill the empty location.

Across the street from the  at the intersection of East Main Street and Grove Avenue in East Patchogue is the, now empty, former location of True Value.

The store, like the theatre, has also been demolished and the property is fenced off. The original building can be found using Street View on Google Maps.

What would you like to see come to this location? A new hardware store? Perhaps a grocery store like ? More retail like ? Tell us in the comments or vote in the poll.

Who owns the property?

I love the idea of a Park, if the owner is willing of course. Maybe we could do an Urban Garden, which could showcase the work of area Landscape Designers, Companies and Artists. The parcel could be divided up into various style Gardens, a Japanese Garden, a Spanish Garden, Cottage Garden, styles typical to the various cultures that make up our diverse community. Call it Patchogue Unity Garden. It would serve as a learning experience for Children to view and could serve as a destination for a break from shopping, etc. If the Landscape company's where interested it would serve as wonderful advetisement for them as well as making a great contribution to the community. If we could find a way to generate alittle income from it that would be great for the Village as well.

Best Market (they've changed the name) is opening in early May in Swan Commons.

How about a sporting goods store

or a general store or home store like the ones in Sayville. http://www.fourstarhomestore.com/index.html We need a place to buy a gift and not a gift card. Kohls is too far away for a last minute purchase.
