The Dish: Straight-Up Sushi At Tony's Asian Fusion

The Place:Tony's Asian Fusion, 9650 Route 25, Mattituck

The Dish: A variety of sushi and sashimi — with hot sake, naturally. If you're craving an array of flavors and textures of sushi, look no further than Tony's Asian Fusion, which opened in its Mattituck location early this past summer.  Last weekend, this writer, having recently lived in the sushi-abundant New York City, went straight to the raw menu, ordering two pieces each of red and white tuna sashimi, octopus sashimi and four pieces of yellow tail sushi. Then, after the plate was cleared and the hot sake was gone, another helping of delectable tuna sashimi suddenly appeared at the table (thanks to dining partner Neil). That stuff just melts in your mouth with a generous portion of wasabi.

The Bonus: The service. The sake was hot, the edamame beans as appetizers were warm and slightly salty as required, and the cuts of fish were at just the right room temperature. Neil, who is not a sushi fan, soon became jealous nonetheless. The dark and intimate setting of this location of Tony's is great for dining with friends or family — and it's perfect for a date.
