Southold Court Clerk Charged with Grand Larceny

In a town where the reporting on this blog of an arrest of any minority for a traffic infraction or petty crime engenders a vocal, visceral mob reaction in the comments section, more than two days after the arrest of a Southold Town Justice Court Clerk, the Patch is pitch silent as to the charges levied against her that include felonies.  (See http://suffolktimes.timesreview.com/2014/03/47151/court-clerk-pleads-not-guilty-released-on-bond/) In other words, after the announcement by the Suffolk County District Attorney of the commission of alleged serious crimes, exposing a violation of the public trust and the failure of Town officials to implement sufficient internal controls to prevent defalcation by town employees, this page finds it unworthy of mention, even in its police blog page.  You can't help but wonder if the same absence of reporting would be true if it were a minority who was charged. I don't know the court clerk who was charged, and she may well be a very good person who, if the charges are true, had a gross lapse in judgment, but my observation isn't really about her. It just seems that there should be equal treatment and reporting for all.
