Voters in Nassau county made it plain on Monday that spending any extra money on their downtrodden hockey team was not a priority.
that would've let Nassau County borrow to help build a new rink for the New York Islanders, saying that they cannot afford to spend what would ultimately cost $800 million in a down economy and a financially-strapped county. Those who supported the project said that the stadium would create jobs and would ultimately pay for itself.
