$108,000

David Nyce finally admitted the real reason for the $108,000 penalty assessed to Greenport utility customers.
The penalty was not levied because the former DOU, Jack Naylor scheduled the test for after the required date.
The penalty was levied because we in fact took the test on time and before the test deadline but because of faulty design and work…we failed.
A reasonable person would ask why isn't the engineer or contractor being held responsible instead of the customers.
The Mayor explained to me, our attorney and he personally did not think we had an ironclad case. Maybe it's time for a new attorney and a new Mayor.
