There's a Jewish take on the New Testament?

FEBRUARY 15 MEETING POSTPONED DUE TO SNOW - NEW DATE FEBRUARY 22, 2015

There’s a Jewish take on the New Testament? Join Rabbi Gabi Capela of Congregation Tifereth Israel of Greenport and Christian Educator Don Russo in a thoughtful and challenging reading of the Christian scriptures through the eyes of Jewish scholarship. This once a month class on the Christian scriptures will use the Jewish Annotated New Testament: New Revised Standard Version, to ask questions, challenge assumptions and bring insight into the writing that has influenced our lives and culture. Classes continue 1:30PM April 13th at the First Universalist Church of Southold, 51900 Rte 25, Southold, NY 11971. Study materials will be provided. A free will offering opportunity will be provided to offset educator and facility expenses.  We had an amazing interfaith turn-out for our first session.  The Rabbi had some very interesting viewpoints and things to add about the Gospels of Matthew.  We will be focusing on the Infancy Narratives of Matthew in April.  Some recommended reading:  The Jewish Annotated New Testament and The Misunderstood Jew, both by Amy-Jill Levine.
