Race For Charity in Fourth Annual Katy's Courage 5K

Katy’s Courage, a not-for-profit organization created in memory of Katy Stewart dedicated to education, pediatric cancer research and counseling, hosts the fourth annual Katy’s Courage 5K on Saturday, April 5. Cost is $25 to pre-register and $30 for day-of registration. One online pre-registered runner will be chosen to receive a Silver 16GB iPad Mini, courtesy of Geek Hampton. Register online for the event at http://bit.ly/OzrSKj.

Registration and check-in will take place from 7 to 8:15 a.m. and the race will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.  Runners will start at 21 West Water Street, head north and make a right onto Main Street. Runners will then make a right onto Glover Street, run through the Redwood section of the course and finish back on Water Street. Prizes for top three overall male and female participants.

All runners, both competitive and noncompetitive, are more than welcome to join. Last year, over 1,200 participants from 4 to 87-years-old, ran, jogged or walked through the finish line. Over $35,000 was raised through participation, sponsorships and cash donations.  Proceeds will benefit high school scholarships awarded to local graduating students, a donation to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the creation of Katy’s Kids @ CMEE, the Children’s Museum of the East End.
