Film Preview: The Marion Lake Story; Defeating The Mighty Phragmite

Join us for a sneak preview screening of ”The Marion Lake Story” by
Emmy-Award winning director and east end resident Greta Schiller.
Proceeds from the event will allow us to donate the film to local
libraries, youth groups, schools, churches, and other community
groups to raise awareness about habitat restoration and why it
matters.

From the first yard sale and eradication summer to the first blooms of
replanted natives, we have been there with our cameras. This film
tells a compelling tale of an ecological crisis averted: the degradation
— and gradual restoration — of a 18-acre lake in East Marion being
choked to death by the highly invasive reed, the australis phragmite.
The film follows a local community, led by Southold Town Person of
the Year Lori Luscher, coming together to save the lake and restore it
to a bio-diverse habitat for native flora and fauna.

Enjoy food and drink, live music, great conversation and meet the
“stars” of the film
