We are meant to be cradle-to-grave learners, acquiring knowledge, happiness, and wisdom through conscious awareness of our experiences. A major role of an academic institution is to help its students develop this awareness and the ability to continually evaluate and challenge all previously held beliefs.

Joe Mc Kay is a career/life counselor with a background in training and development. He is a Board and Faculty member of the Lifetime Learning Council at Peconic Landing in Greenport, and a regular speaker at Unitarian-Universalist Churches on the East End. He writes a monthly column titled “Crazy About Words” and is a local sponsor of “The Dictionary Project” which distributes dictionaries to third graders throughout the country.
