NEW LAW REQUIRES BOATING SAFETY CERTIFICATE

 Special note:  Successful completion of this course meets the requirements of the new Suffolk County law for boat operators safety certification.

The new law requires operators of boats to take a safety course and have the certificate displayed on board the vessel.


The course is for adults 18 and over. Topics covered include: boat handling and operation, navigating the waterways, boating emergencies, personal watercraft, legal requirements, marine radio, and water sports.  The  course has been developed to support the particular needs ofthe novice and average boater in this area.  Certificates are awarded upon successful completion of the course.  The certificate also satisfies the Suffolk County and New York State requirements to legally operate a personal watercraft, and may entitle you to an insurance discount on your boat.

Cost:  $52. per person.  $42/person for couples sharing a book.) Includes course materials, exam, certificate and wallet card.


Course runs every Thursday evening, Jan. 24th-March 14th, 7:30 pm -9:30 pm, at Peconic Recreation Center. (Class will not be held on Feb 21.)
