Gallery Closing reception "SOUPER SATURDAY"

Rothman's Gallery in Southold will be having a Show Closing reception for John Wissemann who has had a long career as painter,
printmaker, and teacher of art.


This Show that has been in Rothman's Winter gallery since December will be taken down and returned to the artist's storage facility and for the the time being, be the last chance to view these large scale pencil drawings.

Also on display in the gallery will be works by Stacy Brandfon and Ron Rothman both of whom have studied with Wissemann at different times his teaching career.


A teacher since 1953, he was adjunct professor at Southampton College, Long Island University, where Stacy studied with him and at Southold Union Free School, where Ron took art classes with him. He has been an inspiration to numerous artists, along with a whole generation of Southold Students,
who had him as an Art teacher.

Wissemann has shown his work in group and solo exhibitions around the country for over thirty years and received awards from the American Watercolor Society, New York; the Washington, D.C. Watercolor Society; and the Silvermine Center in Norwalk, Connecticut. His work is included in private and public collections throughout the United States. John Wissemann has retired from teaching to concentrate exclusively on his painting. He currently divides his time between homes and studios in Southold, New York, and Cushing, Maine.

Southold Democrats will be serving soup in the 2nd annual "Souper Saturday" ($10-20 Donation) event and the Gallery will be donating a portion  of any sales to them for the work they are doing in our community.



This reception will feature Live music with
Southold Slim and the Park Avenue Gypsies
along with other special guests.
