CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT 101

Come learn about the oldest running citizen science-based bird count in the nation.  Perfect for fledgling birders and those who are eager to learn more about the half dozen of Christmas Bird Counts held on eastern Long Island in late December. Begin indoors to learn the history of the count from its NYC roots in 1900 to the important scientific findings gleaned by Audubon scientists today. We will conclude with a casual bird walk in the preserve to see what winter residents have settled in.
