Weekend Spotlight: Find Out How the Transcendentalists Ate

North Fork Audubon hosting class on how to cook 'Thoreau's Bread.'

What did the Transcendentalists eat? It's a question we've all pondered at one point or another, right?

If so, Saturday morning is your chance to find out at the North Fork Audubon's on Saturday morning.

Diana Van Buren will lead a class at the headquarters of the North Fork Audubon on Sound Avenue in Greenport to teach anybody interested in learning how to cook 'Thoreau's Bread,' a simple recipe used with local ingredients. She's throwing a modern twist into the mix by teaching with a solar-powered cooker.

If you don't really care how the Transcendentalists ate or aren't much for cooking, check out one of the other weekend events going on over the next couple of days. The is going on, as is on Shelter Island.
