Week in Review: Wind, Warm Weather and Football Hype Mark the Week

Unseasonably warm weather causes worry for Wine Country vintners while Patch readers get ready for the Sunday NFL playoffs with a guess at the score.

Before Sunday's freeze took hold of the North Fork, residents were amazed at some of the plants in bloom in their yards in the middle of January, vintners were a little worried about their fragile vines if temperatures suddenly dropped — and the rest of us sent in our guesses of Sunday's playoff score between the Packers and the Giants. Here's a look back at some of the headlines of the week of Jan. 8:

1. Wind, rain, and unseasonable warmth made the news this week. While many of you enjoyed the pseudo spring with , somethat with the warmth, their grapevines full of sap would freeze and crack in the face of a sudden cold front.
