Southold No Longer in State of Emergency

Supervisor, police chief say most roads now passable.

Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell has rescinded the Town’s state of emergency from Saturday, with most roads clear and the transfer station open.

Police Chief Martin Flatley said that motorists should still use caution when driving after the icy cold temperatures from Saturday night.

“The amount of snow plowed off the travel portions of the roadway onto shoulders will narrow the traffic lanes in some areas,” he said. “And visibility at most intersections is limited due to snow being mounded off the roadways.”
