Russell Asks Residents To Keep Travel To A Minimum

Plows are still at work on Southold roads.

Despite the sunny skies, Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell is suggesting that residents keep travel to a minimum.

"The roads are passable but it is extremely slow going out there," Russell said. "The snow is drifting and, as the temperature falls, there will be ice conditions. We are asking people to keep travel to a minimum."

Russell said Southold Highway Superintendend Pete Harris and the crews are out and are moving back the drifting snow. In addition, they are getting sand and salt mix down.

"Still, people should not expect things to get back to normal for some time," the supervisor said.

Is your road plowed yet in Southold Town? Let us know in the comments section.

Avoid Benja and Fleetsneck until springtime.

A few folks in Greenport feel the same way about "professor" Edelson and his brand of wisdom.

Do the East End towns have reciprocal assistance agreements for storm/snow/hurricane cleanup? it is great for fires and firehouses so it could be used for other natural disasters.

i am dropping my professorial title now that I am retired for so long.
mike edelson February 11, 2013 at 10:06 PM
So John , don't get all silly over it.
John February 11, 2013 at 11:05 PM
Hey Mike no problem, you drop the title and being pompous and I'll stop pointing out it's cold in February…Deal?
mike edelson February 11, 2013 at 11:54 PM
I reserve the right to STAY pompous, especially when walking my dog from Bay Avenue down Main Street to Front and to coffee at Aldo's. And you can point out it is cold in February. I think it is an observation that is within your limits.
John February 12, 2013 at 01:01 AM
Hey Mike I like it when you and I are on the same page and we can both agree that you are pompous, you do have a big dog, you are a Nyce guy who drinks his coffee at Aldos, and admits it will be a cold day in Feb. before a smart guy like you can be "baited". TTYS "professor".
