Russell Asks Residents To Keep Travel To A Minimum

Plows are still at work on Southold roads.

Despite the sunny skies, Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell is suggesting that residents keep travel to a minimum.

"The roads are passable but it is extremely slow going out there," Russell said. "The snow is drifting and, as the temperature falls, there will be ice conditions. We are asking people to keep travel to a minimum."

Russell said Southold Highway Superintendend Pete Harris and the crews are out and are moving back the drifting snow. In addition, they are getting sand and salt mix down.

"Still, people should not expect things to get back to normal for some time," the supervisor said.
