Report: Shelter Island Living is 'Not Quite the Hamptons'
Curbed Hamptons' website gives kudos to Shelter Island for being kind of like the Hamptons but not quite.
Despite the "Hamptons-esque" mansions on Shelter Island, Curbed Hamptons has decided that the island is decidedly not the Hamptons, says a recently published feature on the website.
"Accessible by ferry from both the North and South Forks, the island maintains a culture and appearance distinct from either," it says. "That's not to say that their aren't some Hamptons-esque mansions on this independent island, as it's been a wealthy getaway since the turn of the century."
